What does ‘explicit teaching’ mean?

My child is not in Year 3 yet … is it too early to start the program?

What maths areas do you focus on?
My5MMT has subdivided the entire maths curriculum into 20 categories - so every concept, strategy and term is presented, explored, practiced and revised.
Based on the premise that ‘prevention is better than the cure’, we leave no stone unturned in our coverage of stage-based maths.
Do I need to purchase a workbook to do the program?
Some children (and parents) prefer to use a workbook however all our worksheets are freely accessible to print as you watch each lesson and can also be printed in bulk format found in the Parent Portal.
There’s no tests on My5 … so how can I ensure my child is understanding the program content?
My5MMT is based on the Maths Mastery Formula where ‘Evaluation’ is a key part of the learning process.
Following a phase of learning (every 4 lessons) students complete a Top 20 Challenge that assesses their understanding of the 20 concepts covered.
This pin points any areas that need further focus before proceeding with the next phase.
How can I use the My5 platform to help my child do their homework?
Our Core Concepts section has hundreds of separate 5 minute videos and worksheets where your child can watch and learn a specific maths concept to assist their understanding and ability. Simply look up a concept and equip your child with the knowledge they need in just 5 minutes!
Maths has changed since I went to school … how can I help my child?
We love creating opportunities to engage with your child so feel free to learn alongside your young mathematician watching both the Learning Lessons and Core Concept videos that will explain mathematical terminology and current strategies.
My child is tired after a day at school … how can they participate in the program?
No problem.
The My5MMT program is an on demand 24/7 educational platform that you can use to fit in with your child’s best learning times and family schedule.
Learn before, during or after school, wherever there is internet connection, My5MMT is always available.
My child seems to need to revise concepts regularly … does the My5 program cater for this?

Maths tuition is presented in a format that highlights and values practice, so students can work their way through the entire curriculum in bite sized lessons that review and revise individual concepts a minimum of 5 times over each stage.
